David Parker
Head of Prison Law
As a Partner, Solicitor and Head of the Prison Law Department, with over 25 years’ specialist experience, David is recognised as a leading force in the field of Prison Law. David spearheads the most complex and high-risk matters, with particular expertise in high-security Category A cases and Escape Risk reviews involving some of the UK’s most dangerous offenders, including those linked to major national and international organised crime. David’s strategic, meticulous approach, enables him to secure robust and fair outcomes for clients, that others may consider beyond reach.

Paige Hudson
Prison Law Supervisor
After completing the Bar Professional Training Course Paige developed specialist expertise in complex prison law, particularly high-risk and high-security cases. Paige’s sharp focus in Parole Reviews involving Terrorism-related matters, the female estate, and issues within the Close Supervision Centre (CSC), enables her to provide clear, direct, strategic legal advice. She is renowned as a fierce and respected advocate for clients held in the most restrictive parts of the prison estate.

Erica Rumens
Prison Law Supervisor
Erica is a Bar Professional Training Course Graduate with specialist expertise in prison law and life-sentence parole cases. Erica is an advocate for clients with protected characteristics including those with learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring their rights, needs, and voices are fully represented. As a committed leader in this field, and trusted supervisor Erica brings robust legal knowledge, empathy, and determination to every case.

Jane Winfield
Duty Solicitor
As a Partner with over 15 years’ experience in Prison Law, Jane provides a clear and approachable service to every client. Previously a duty Solicitor and Higher Courts Advocate, Jane has developed extensive expertise across prison law, including parole reviews, recall challenges, and complex sentence progression issues. Known for her relaxed yet highly effective style, Jane puts clients at ease while advancing their cases with clarity and focus. With a calm communication approach and robust advocacy skill, Jane receives many recommendations from her own clients, demonstrating the high regard in which she is held.

James Fairweather
Head of Criminal Department
Partner at Carringtons is the head of the Criminal Department. He has vast experience of both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court.

Andrew MacDonald
Partner / Duty Solicitor
Partner at Carringtons, manages the Criminal Department and oversees its day-to-day operations. He is a duty solicitor and regularly represents clients in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, attending trials, sentencing hearings, and bail applications. Andrew also handles civil applications such as DVPOs, SHPOs, and Stalking Prevention Orders. With the development of video link systems, he can attend Magistrates’ Courts nationwide. Andrew has extensive experience in Crown Court cases, including murder, county lines drug cases, complex fraud, sexual offences, assaults, and burglaries.

Nadir Prabatanti
Associate Solicitor
An Associate Solicitor and accredited Higher Courts Advocate, granting him rights of audience in the Crown Court. With nearly twenty years’ experience, Nadir is also a duty solicitor and has a strong understanding of clients with complex needs, thanks to his work in the prison law department. He is known for his exceptional client care and commitment to going the extra mile.

Rovena Zogaj
Solicitor
Joined Carringtons in September 2022 as a Paralegal and was offered a training contract in April 2024, becoming a Trainee Solicitor. She qualified as a Solicitor in October 2025 after gaining invaluable experience on a wide range of Crown Court cases. Rovena is now looking forward to working in the Magistrates’ Court and is committed to ensuring every client receives fair representation and the best possible support.

Caine Ward
Criminal Defence Litigator
A highly experienced criminal defence litigator with over 30 years of practice in Crown Court cases and police station representation. His expertise spans serious criminal matters, including murder, manslaughter, armed robbery, aggravated burglary, large-scale drug supply and importation, complex fraud, and customs prosecutions. In recent years, Caine has specialised in Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) applications, achieving significant successes such as preventing confiscation proceedings, challenging prosecution assumptions, reducing benefit figures worth millions, and overturning confiscation orders in the Court of Appeal.

Millie Stevenson
Paralegal
Joined Carringtons in 2022 as a Paralegal and has since become Police Station Accredited. She regularly attends police stations to advise clients during interviews and manages case preparation from the outset, including setting up files, reviewing evidence, and providing clients with clear written summaries. Millie plays an active role in Magistrates’ Court matters, meeting clients in person or via video link to ensure cases are fully prepared for trial. She is continuing to broaden her experience and looks forward to contributing more extensively to Crown Court litigation.

Katie Louch
Administrator
Katie has been part of Carringtons since 2007, starting her career as an Office Clerk before progressing to Administrator within the Prison Law Department. Her role now focuses on the Criminal Department, where she enjoys working as part of a dedicated team. Katie handles new client enquiries, arranges police interviews for clients in custody, maintains communication with the police, and ensures clients are kept fully informed about their cases.
